The Practice

Who We Are

A focused translation practice working exclusively between English and Spanish.

Meridian Translations is a practice of certified English to Spanish and Spanish to English translators. We work exclusively with these two languages — if your document requires translation between any other pair, we are not the right service for you, and we will say so clearly rather than attempt a translation outside our scope.

Our work covers a range of document types: personal documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, and passports; academic documents including diplomas and transcripts; and legal and business documents such as contracts and declarations. Every translation is delivered as a human-produced document — the translator reads the source text, understands it, and renders it faithfully into the target language.

We do not use machine translation output as a substitute for human translation. We do not subcontract to other translators or agencies. The translator named on a Meridian certification statement is the person who translated your document.

The Translator

Santiago Pedraza

Qualified translator — English ↔ Spanish — University of Malta.

Santiago Pedraza is our certified translator at Meridian Translations. Santiago holds a translation qualification from the University of Malta and works exclusively between English and Spanish.

The University of Malta translation programme provides formal academic training in translation theory and practice. Santiago's qualification in this field underpins the certified translation work offered through Meridian Translations — including the preparation of signed certification statements that attest to the accuracy and completeness of the translation.

All translations at Meridian are completed directly by Santiago. Your document is not passed to subcontractors, junior staff, or automated tools at any stage of the process.

If you have questions about Santiago's background or approach before placing an order, you are welcome to get in touch.

How We Work

Our Approach

Human translation, accuracy, and confidentiality — the principles behind every translation we produce.

Human Translation

Every translation is produced by a human translator — not machine-translated and lightly edited, not run through software and presented as a human product. Santiago reads your document, understands its meaning in context, and renders it faithfully into the target language.

This matters most for official and legal documents, where accuracy of meaning is not merely a quality preference but a practical necessity. A translation of a birth certificate, contract, or academic credential must be complete and precise.

Accuracy

We translate what the source document says — not what we think the recipient might want to see, and not a paraphrase of the general meaning. Names, dates, document numbers, and legal terms are reproduced with precision. Where a term in the source language does not have a direct equivalent in the target language, the choice is explained if relevant.

We work within our scope: English to Spanish, and Spanish to English. We do not translate documents in language pairs outside this combination.

Confidentiality

Documents submitted to Meridian Translations are used solely to produce your translation. They are not shared with third parties, not used for training purposes, and not retained longer than necessary to complete and deliver your order.

Your document is handled only by Santiago Pedraza. If you have specific confidentiality requirements — for example, in the context of a legal or commercial matter — please mention them when you request a quote. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Certification Statement

Certified translations from Meridian include a signed statement by Santiago Pedraza attesting that the translation is complete and accurate to the best of the translator's knowledge. The statement includes the translator's name, University of Malta qualification, the language pair, the date, and a signature.

Requirements for certified translations vary by institution and jurisdiction. We do not make guarantees of acceptance by specific authorities. If you are unsure whether our certification format will meet the requirements of the receiving body, we recommend checking before ordering.

What We Commit To

Our Standards

A short summary of what you can expect from every translation we produce.

  • We work within our scope

Meridian Translations works exclusively between English and Spanish. We do not offer translation into or from any other language. If your document requires a different language pair, we will tell you directly rather than accept work we are not positioned to complete to an appropriate standard.

  • We quote before we start

Every project begins with a written quote. Translation does not start until you have received, reviewed, and confirmed the quote. There are no unexpected charges and no work carried out without your approval.

  • We are transparent about limitations

We do not claim accreditations we do not hold, memberships we do not have, or acceptance by bodies that have not confirmed our format. If there is something we cannot do, or something we are uncertain about, we say so.

  • We deliver what we promise

The turnaround time, the format, and the price are all confirmed in writing before work begins. We do not accept orders we cannot complete on time. If a problem arises, we contact you directly — we do not simply miss a deadline without explanation.

Scope of Service

What We Do — and What We Don't

Clarity about our scope helps you decide whether Meridian Translations is the right choice for your project.

What we do

  • Translate documents between English and Spanish — in both directions.
  • Provide certified translations with a signed certification statement prepared by a qualified translator.
  • Handle personal, legal, and academic documents: birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, passports, diplomas, contracts, and related materials.
  • Deliver translations by email in an agreed format — PDF for certified translations, DOCX for standard translations.
  • Treat all submitted documents with strict confidentiality.

What we don't do

  • We do not translate between language pairs other than English and Spanish.
  • We do not use machine translation as a substitute for human translation.
  • We do not subcontract your document to other translators or agencies.
  • We do not make guarantees of acceptance by specific institutions, immigration bodies, or courts — requirements vary and it is always advisable to confirm with the receiving body.
  • We do not notarise documents or provide legal advice. A certified translation is a translator's attestation of accuracy; it is not a notarisation and should not be confused with one.

If you have a question about whether your specific document or use case falls within our scope, contact us before submitting a quote request and we will give you a direct answer.
