Legal & Compliance
Terms & Conditions
These terms govern the translation services provided by Meridian Translations. Please read them before placing an order.
Service Description
Meridian Translations provides the following services, exclusively between English and Spanish:
- Certified translation — a human translation of your document accompanied by a signed certification statement prepared by Santiago Pedraza, attesting to the completeness and accuracy of the translation. This is the appropriate service for official submissions to government bodies, immigration authorities, courts, and educational institutions.
- Standard translation — a human translation between English and Spanish, without a certification statement. Suitable for personal or informational use where a formal certification is not required.
- Notarized translation — a translation prepared for the purpose of notarisation. The translation itself is produced by Meridian Translations; notarisation is a separate legal process arranged independently by the client and is subject to availability and the requirements of the relevant notary. Meridian Translations does not provide notarisation services.
We do not offer translation services between any language pair other than English and Spanish. If your document requires a different language pair, we will advise you accordingly rather than accept work outside our scope.
Quotes and Pricing
Quotes for certified translations are provided on a per-page basis. Quotes for standard translations are provided on a per-word basis. No work is started without a written quote and your written confirmation.
All quotes are provided in writing and are valid for a reasonable period from the date of issue. Quotes are based on the document(s) provided at the time of the request — if the scope of the document changes, the quote may be revised accordingly.
No price figures are published on this site. Please request a quote for an accurate price for your specific document and requirements.
Turnaround
Turnaround times provided at the quote stage are estimates only and represent our best-effort commitment based on current workload. They are not contractual guarantees unless explicitly stated in writing as such.
A guaranteed turnaround time requires explicit written agreement at the time the quote is confirmed. Meridian Translations is not liable for delays caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control, including but not limited to illness, technical failures, or delays in receiving documents from the client.
If a delay is anticipated, we will contact you promptly to advise you and agree on a revised schedule.
Certification Scope
A certified translation from Meridian Translations is a human translation accompanied by a signed certification statement prepared by Santiago Pedraza. The statement attests that, to the best of the translator's knowledge, the translation is a complete and accurate rendering of the source document. The statement includes the translator's name, the University of Malta translation qualification, the language pair, the date, and a signature.
A certified translation from Meridian Translations is not:
- A notarisation or notarial act.
- A legal opinion or legal advice.
- A guarantee or warranty that the translation will be accepted by any specific institution, authority, court, immigration body, or other recipient.
Acceptance of a translation is determined solely by the receiving authority. Requirements vary by institution, jurisdiction, and purpose. Meridian Translations makes no guarantee that any translation produced by us will be accepted by any third party. If you are uncertain whether our certification format meets the requirements of the receiving body, we recommend confirming with that body before placing an order.
Payment
Online payment processing is being introduced. Currently, payment is arranged directly between you and Meridian Translations — by invoice or another agreed method — prior to or upon delivery of the completed translation. The specific payment terms applicable to your project will be confirmed in writing at the quote stage.
Work does not commence until payment terms have been agreed. Where a deposit is required, this will be stated in the quote.
Revisions
Meridian Translations will correct any genuine translation error — that is, any instance where the translation does not accurately reflect the meaning of the source document — at no additional charge.
Requests for stylistic changes, changes in scope, or additions not present in the original source document fall outside the scope of a free revision and may be quoted separately.
Revision requests should be made promptly after delivery. Please contact us as soon as you identify a concern so we can address it efficiently.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Meridian Translations' liability in connection with any translation service is limited to the fees paid by the client for that specific service.
Meridian Translations is not liable for:
- Indirect losses, consequential losses, or loss of opportunity arising from the provision of a translation.
- Loss arising from the non-acceptance of a translation by a third party, including any institution, authority, court, or immigration body.
- Delays or losses arising from circumstances outside Meridian Translations' reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
